Laurent LANQUAR-CASTIEL (Ecologists 06) supports Cédric Herrou

Cédric Herrou, the activist accused of having facilitated immigration and the welcoming of migrants in the Roya Valley, will be present today before the Nice court.

“Solidarity should not be considered a crime. It’s the opposite. The current public authorities are guilty of failing to assist people in danger. They are the ones who should be prosecuted and condemned. The attitude of the local executive officials is unworthy of the Republic they are supposed (and sensible) to embody: they are an insult to France, the Homeland of Human Rights, born from the Enlightenment. They contribute to the ‘endarkenment’ of Northern countries, like D. Trump in the United States.

But one thing is reassuring, we are and will always be, many, pleading guilty to solidarity. Despite the cultural hegemony imposed on us by local executives and certain media, solidarity remains a value shared by the majority, as demonstrated by the popular choice of Cédric Herrou as Azuréen of the Year 2016. A title well-deserved and that cannot be contested by any honest or humanistic person.”
