The five Nice fans who invaded the pitch during the Ligue 1 match between OGC Nice and OM on August 22 will finally be tried in February, as they were supposed to appear in court on Monday, October 11.
In the meantime, the five defendants are under judicial supervision and are prohibited from attending sports venues, reports Nice Matin.
The match had been halted in the 76th minute after the pitch was invaded, with Nice leading 1-0. The man responsible for kicking towards Dimitri Payet has already been sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence and a five-year stadium ban.
Another man accused of making a Nazi salute during the same match is currently in pre-trial detention. He will be tried on Wednesday, October 13 for “glorifying crimes against humanity.”
The match will be replayed on October 27 in Troyes on neutral ground. A point has already been deducted from OGC Nice.
