The cold wave hitting the entire country once again makes the situation of the homeless very concerning.
For Xavier Garcia, federal secretary of the Socialist Party 06, “a decent society cannot let human beings die of cold in the street. This cause must mobilize all of us beyond political divides.”
For him: “The collection of blankets that has been set up, notably by the city of Nice, is a very good initiative. But given the negative nighttime temperatures we will face in the coming days, I have written to the mayors of the largest communes in the department (Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse) to quickly set up exceptional shelter in gyms or any other suitable public building if, as we fear, existing shelters are not enough to meet the demand for accommodation.”
