This project is part of the national program “Micro-Folies,” launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated with the Grande Halle de la Villette Park in Paris. This program now includes around a hundred structures spread across France.
Thus, a second Micro-Folie has recently opened in Vence. Other projects are planned for 2021-2022 in Roquefort-les-Pins, Grasse, Cannes, Antibes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Beausoleil, and Contes.
Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department: “Today is a great moment! I am very proud to inaugurate the first departmental Micro-Folie in the heart of Nice. Since its opening, this innovative concept has enjoyed great success among all generations: young people, seniors, families, students, associations, university members. In this digital space, new technologies will become a means of access to art.”
The departmental Micro-Folie in Nice is a 300 m² space dedicated to innovation, creation, and cultural dissemination. Its activities are free and open to everyone from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.
This new departmental cultural site has already welcomed over 1,600 visitors since its opening in May. The Micro-Folie consists of:
-
A digital museum. It allows the public to discover numerous cultural treasures digitized in very high definition from the greatest national institutions (Louvre Museum, Centre Pompidou, Palace of Versailles, Paris Opera, Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie, Avignon Festival, etc.). Fine arts, architecture, scientific culture, performing arts… This virtual gallery is aimed at all audiences and serves as a real tool for artistic and cultural education. This museum, very easy for the public to access, allows immersion in prestigious collections with great interactivity through digital tools. The public can thus freely visit the collections, and special mediation times are organized for groups, particularly for school audiences.

The Biblio’Art, a library dedicated to art and digital technology;
-
And the Art Box, a place for exhibitions and events.
