From October 30 to February 22, 2022, the Matisse Museum is hosting a new exhibition, “Matisse in the Nahmad Collection”. This is an opportunity to discover new works by the painter who was so inspired by Nice.
David and Ezra Nahmad, two collector-dealers, have lent the Matisse Museum sixteen works by Matisse from their own collection. This is the first time that this collection of works has been presented to the public in its entirety.
Before being acquired at public auctions in London, Paris, New York, or Tokyo, these works mainly came from famous French or American collections. Only three of them were part of Henri Matisse’s own collection before his son, who had inherited them, sold them.
