The successor to Didier Digard is named Francesco Farioli. Having worked with Sassuolo and Benevento as a goalkeeping coach, and then in Turkey with Fatih Karagümrük and Alanyaspor as general manager, the Italian coach is relatively unknown to the general public. With a mixed record for his first real high-level coaching experience (6 wins, 7 draws, and 9 losses last season), Francesco Farioli is certainly not the type of manager Gym supporters were expecting.
According to Johann Crochet (RMC Sport), Farioli was highly regarded at his former club: “The players adored him, to the point that when he left Alanyaspor, all the players thanked him by calling him the ‘maestro’”. This reaction possibly appealed to OGCN’s leaders. “He has a modern style and a working methodology in which we recognize ourselves, explains the Gym director Florent Ghisolfi. He shapes his teams with the intensity we are looking for.”
On his part, president Jean-Pierre Rivière sees in his new recruit “an extremely promising coach, with many professional and human qualities, who has already been able to leave his mark in his previous experiences.”
Francesco Farioli will lead his first session with the group this Monday for the resumption.
