The establishment created in the mid-19th century had rarely been renovated, so considerable work will be carried out.
It’s official, Saint-Maire Hospital is heading towards modernization. The association managing the hospital has just signed a contract for a renovation that will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022. The renovation cost will amount to 110 million and will be entirely financed by the hospital’s own funds.
This announcement of major reconstruction is not a surprise because the project had already been approved in 2019 but the builders had not been chosen. This renovation was awaited, considered an absolute urgency because the establishment had been very rarely renovated since its creation in 1862.
A consortium of different companies (SCAU Architecture, Ingerop, Ginger CEBTP, and AC2R) will be responsible for the construction work. Initially, renovation work on premises will be conducted. Indeed, these premises date from an older time and are no longer suitable for today.
20,000 mยฒ will also be demolished and then rebuilt. Only the central building with its chapel will be preserved. This demolition operation will take place over the course of 2022 while the reconstruction will happen in two phases: first in 2023 and then between 2026 and 2028.
In this renovation, there is also the idea of reducing the number of patients to 255 to create green and exercise spaces with ‘hotel-like comfort’.
