The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis proudly supports the new “Eco-Gestures Mediterranean” campaign, which will take place throughout the summer season along the coastal area. This initiative aims to raise awareness among boaters about the importance of preserving the marine environment.
Coordinated regionally by the Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives (CPIE) of the Pays d’Azur and locally managed by the Sea and Mountain Discovery Center (CDMM), the campaign will highlight several crucial topics this year. Among them are drought, respectful anchoring of seabeds, and the protection of Posidonia, a protected underwater plant.
To achieve its objectives, the “Eco-Gestures Mediterranean” campaign will deploy dedicated ambassadors who will meet with boaters. These ambassadors will have the mission to engage with them about their practices and equipment in order to provide informed advice on better protecting the maritime environment.
To optimize the impact of this campaign, several awareness days have been scheduled in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis:
- Villefranche-sur-Mer (roadstead): Thursday, July 6, Friday, July 21, Wednesday, August 2, Tuesday, August 8
- Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat (Fosses/Fossettes or port): Wednesday, July 19
- Eze: Wednesday, July 26 and Tuesday, August 22
- Cap d’Ail (Mala Bay/Beach): Wednesday, August 1
- Beaulieu-sur-Mer (Bay of Fourmis or port): Thursday, August 17
The “Eco-Gestures Mediterranean” campaign is an essential initiative in the fight for the preservation of our marine environment. Thus, boaters are encouraged to join this collective effort by adopting sustainable practices and preserving the natural beauty of the Mediterranean for future generations.
