From February 11 to May 28, MAMAC invites Vivien Roubaud to invest the Ponchettes Gallery, continuing the program of in situ interventions initiated in 2016 with the reactivation of Yona Friedman’s “Improvised Prototype of the Cloud Type.”
At the Ponchettes Gallery, you will discover a monumental, surreal, poetic, and immersive installation that immerses the visitor into the heart of an evolving environment connecting the natural to the artificial, fragility to danger, and technicality to humanity.
Born in 1986, Vivien Roubaud graduated from the Villa Arson School of Fine Arts in 2011. Until 2015, he was an artist-in-residence at La Station in Nice. In 2016, shortly after the attacks in Paris and Brussels, he decided to move to Molenbeek in Belgium and participate in the creation of a self-managed exhibition space and artists’ workshops (similar to La Station) with numerous artists of his generation, including Florian Pugnaire, David Raffini, Tatiana Wolska, Aurรฉlien Cornut-Gentille, and Paul Le Bras. Winner of the Emerige Revelations Prize in 2014, Vivien Roubaud is represented by the In Situ-Fabienne Leclerc gallery in Paris.
The Ponchettes Gallery was built in the years 1830-35. Since 2011, it has been an offsite program space for MAMAC and is now an experimental space for artists.
