After a poor but victorious match at Cholet in the French Cup (0-1), the return to Ligue 1 and to the Allianz Riviera for the Gym.
This Wednesday, at 9 PM, OGC Nice hosts RC Lens for this last match before Christmas. Nice is coming off 3 consecutive home defeats without scoring (Montpellier, Metz, and Strasbourg) and will absolutely need to regain success to avoid truly losing confidence in their stronghold. With a victory against the club from the North, the Gym could even return to the Ligue 1 podium (if OM or Rennes do not win).
RC Lens also won their French Cup match with the same score of 0-1. While they had a brilliant start to the season and positioned themselves second in the championship behind Paris, Frédéric Haize’s men have experienced a downfall (last victory on November 5) landing in 6th place.
The blood and gold are eager to reverse this negative spiral and know that this will require a win in Nice. Several Lens players have already shown that they are fully focused on this match after the French Cup victory.
Several players need to be watched, such as Seko Fofana, one of the best players in the championship since the start of the season, the two wing-backs Clauss and Frankowski who contribute significantly offensively, and Kalimuendo who at only 19 years old causes plenty of trouble to Ligue 1 defenses.
