The Minister of Culture, Ms. Azoulay, has renewed Irina Brook’s appointment as director of the Thรฉรขtre National de Nice for a new three-year term starting January 1, 2018.
Arriving in Nice as a mediation choice after intense verbal disputes between the former mayor Christian Estrosi and the then Minister of Culture Aurelie Filippetti, who supported other candidates, Irina Brook, 55, has highlighted her cosmopolitan vision, serving a broad program open to all tastes.
A Shakespeare enthusiast, her seasonal performances of the English playwright’s works have become a classic and are admired by the public.
Her confirmation is therefore well-deserved, and it will undoubtedly be unanimously welcomed by the public.
