In Antibes, two hospitalized patients transferred to Lille

Latest News

Two patients from the hospital in Antibes were transferred to the Lille hospital center on Wednesday, December 29, due to a lack of space in the department and the PACA region.

At the Antibes Juan-Les-Pins hospital, the bed occupancy rate for patients reached 130% as the fifth wave sweeps across France.

Thirteen beds have been opened for this unit, although it normally only accommodates ten. Three additional beds are expected to open by Monday. Such a situation had not occurred for several months.

The patients who were transferred, a man and a woman in their sixties, are in a serious but stabilized condition. They were assisted by the SMUR teams at the Antibes hospital to be taken to Nice airport. A medicalized airplane then flew them to Lille, where other SMUR teams were waiting to take them to the Lille hospital center. To carry out this transfer, the consent of the patients’ families was required.
