Legacy of UEFA EURO 2016
As part of the UEFA EURO 2016 legacy, a grant of 2 million euros was allocated to each host city. The City of Nice selected 5 local projects for the creation or renovation of football pitches. Two large synthetic football fields were delivered at the Hairabรฉdian stadium.
Nice now has 35 synthetic fields, including 23 large fields.
Who is Babkin Hairabedian?
Babkin Hairabedian, a former great goalkeeper for OGC Nice who passed away in 2004, gave his name to the lower Lauvette stadium. He won the 1954 Coupe de France and the 1956 French Championship. A member of an exceptional generation, Babkin Hairabedian shared his victories with teammates who made history for the Aiglons, such as Pancho Gonzales, Jean Luciano, and Vic Nuremberg.
