On Friday, March 1, 2024, Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, symbolically planted the first umbrella pine on the Bourgada esplanade.

As part of the extension of the Coulée verte, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, participated in the planting of the first trees on the Bourgada lookout. Once home to the old Théâtre de Nice, the esplanade and Bourgada lookout will be transformed into a place filled with greenery. A variety of species will take root there, offering seven different plant environments.

The transformation of the Bourgada Lookout involves a space of over 5,000 square meters to be planted with vegetation to create a Mediterranean-style garden. Soon to be adorned with more than one hundred and fifty trees and shrubs, a rainwater harvesting system will be installed to avoid drawing from natural reserves.

“Nice, its rooftops, its steeples, its historic center, will once again be admired by the residents of Boulevard Risso and Avenue Gallieni,” emphasizes the mayor of Nice. Thus, residents will have the opportunity to enjoy a green and soothing environment. The planting will continue through the spring, with the lookout expected to be handed over in June 2024.
