The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is more equipped than ever with electric charging stations.

Latest News

Last week, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, unveiled the key figures for the deployment of electric car charging stations in the Metropolis.

Good news for electric car owners! The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is now better equipped in terms of electric charging stations. It was the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who proudly announced it last Wednesday at the Palmeira parking lot.

When the Metropolis created the Prise de Nice network in 2019, its goal was to equip the territory as best as possible with electric charging points. The success was immediate. In fact, 145 charging points were installed the same year. Since then, 5.9 million euros have been invested as part of a public market awarded to Enedis (through Dalkia Electrotechnics and Izivia), with mostly accelerated and fast charging stations (22 and 50 kVA).

A goal achieved sooner than expected

Today, the fruits of their labor are here. The Metropolis now has more than 600 charging points deployed on the territory. This represents 455 additional stations over five years. A remarkable progress considering that this goal was initially set for the end of 2025.

I wanted to make electric mobility one of the elements that contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions. It’s not because we’ve reached our goal that we’re going to stop there. On the contrary. We will continue to install 50 this year and 50 in 2025 to reach 700 stations,” the mayor highlighted at thePalmeira parking lot.

Ongoing projects…

In addition to roadways, the Metropolis aims to install 268 charging stations in parking lots. A project managed by the Régie Parcs d’Azur within the framework of a call for expressions of interest, won by the NGE group and Electric 55-Charging.

For now, only the parking lots of Palmeira and the Palais de Justice have 19 and 20 places equipped with stations. Starting this month, the remaining 229 points will be deployed in the parking lots of Valombroise (16), Gorbella (10), Louis de Coppet (11), Jean Bouin (95), Palais Masséna (28), Corversy (21), and Jeanne d’arc (48).

Besides roadways and parking lots, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is also planning to implement stations (150 kVA) in service stations under concession, across the entire metropolitan area.
