The season is fully underway. With 22 teams divided into six groups, where only the group winners will earn a place in the round of 16, OGC Nice entered as favorites before facing a Toulouse team that was coming off two consecutive defeats in D2 (10th place after three rounds).

After a closely contested first half, the turning point of the match occurred right at the start of the second period: within five minutes, the Niçoises widened the gap with a six-goal streak against the Haut-Garonnaises, who could not respond (10-14, 10-20).
