France is once again becoming a nation of boldness.

The election of the pro-European Emmanuel Macron as President of the Republic in France is good news for Europe and the world as it could give the Union the momentum it so desperately lacks.

This election is a major event for France, Europe, and the world.

France dared to make a bold gamble; it chose to place a 39-year-old at its presidency, a young man who, a year ago, envisioned redesigning the political landscape and taking the lead.

It is also a turning point for Europe, for this Union outside of which none of the European powers can stand against continental states, both emerging and historic, that will shape this new century.

Its national leaders have finally understood that it needs a new boost, to jointly drive its economy, harmonize its tax systems and social protections, and that for this, it is necessary to move towards a differentiated Europe where those who wish to advance further and faster can do so and set an example.

On this matter, there is a consensus among the six founding countries and many others. Investment in the future will now matter as much as budget balances, with a France that remembers having invented European unity and wants to defend it tooth and nail.

As for the world, it’s simple. There had been Brexit, Trump, and the rise of new far-rights across Europe, and suddenly France elects a man who says no to this trend.
