This week, several workshops on road safety prevention took place in Nice, organized by Matmut insurance.
In March 2024, road fatalities increased by 31% compared to March 2023. In this context, Matmut Prevention demonstrates its commitment to road safety by offering a half-day dedicated to preventive driving in Nice.
Throughout the year, Matmut offers several road safety prevention workshops in collaboration with automotive instructors. The Matmut prevention workshops travel to more than twenty cities in France. This week they were in Nice, and we immersed ourselves in one of the workshops.
“I took the same workshop 25 years ago, where I learned a lot. And today I came back for a little refresher. I need a small update. Aside from Matmut, I haven’t seen any other insurance company offering these road safety prevention workshops,” one of the participants told us.
The Importance of Road Safety Prevention for Drivers
All the road safety prevention workshops are conducted in half-day sessions lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes. These trainings provide a corrective for users, whether it’s on driving positions, reflexes, anticipations, vision, etc.
The workshops are divided into several activities. The first is a meeting on the importance of these road safety workshops and the different trainings available. Then the group is split into three activities: a fun lesson and two driving activities. The workshop we participated in focused on the theme of preventive driving. We learned about the actions to take during emergency braking as well as how a car reacts during a loss of traction.
These trainings can open your eyes to certain everyday actions of automatic driving that aren’t often correct. Thus, the trainings correct the bad habits of motorists, even the best drivers! The instructor of this session, Aurélien Macerot, explained that he trains “only good drivers, so people like you who ask questions. Driving means being attentive and cautious.”
