โThe House of the Illustriousโ, is the new inscription that has adorned the Auguste Escoffier Museum in Villeneuve-Loubet since this evening. The plaque was unveiled this afternoon in the presence of Jennifer Salles-Barbosa (President of the Tourism Commission), the mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet (Lionel Luca), Mr. Renaud Letitre (municipal councilor), and Christian Vialle (municipal deputy for nation-army relations)โฆ
โThe House of the Illustriousโ adorns the faรงade of the Museum of Culinary Art. A piece of news that delights Ms. Jennifer Salles-Barbosa, President of the Tourism Commission.
For her, the museum now aims to preserve and transmit the memory of certain personalities who have distinguished themselves.
The label ensures a program of cultural quality, authenticity, and originality of the museographic content.
She reminds those who may have forgotten that this label is only valid for 5 years, with the possibility of renewal, under the direction of the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
For Ms. Jennifer Salles-Barbosa, the museum has two objectives: to highlight the considerable work of this great chef, whose culinary art makes France a world reference, and to allow our territory to stand out in an area that is not relocatable. According to her, these two objectives contribute to good economic development.
For her, the role of the community in supporting tourism, which was severely affected during the dreadful attack on July 14th, is important. The region must, she continues: โcontinue to attract the whole world.โ Thus, the region launched, in September 2016, with Christian Estrosi and Renaud Muselier (president of the regional tourism committee), a major tourism plan. โWe have taken our responsibilities alongside these actors,โ she continues, โthe sector is starting to get better, and it is essential for the prosperity of our territory.โ
She concludes her speech by saying: โWe must be proud of our beautiful heritage, the richness of our beautiful territory, and our diversity. The tourism economy is the backbone of our economy. It’s a beautiful economy because it brings happiness, it’s positive, and it gives many families the opportunity to accomplish a mission that promotes job creation.โ
A message full of hope for the region. On his part, the mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet, supports this view. He begins his speech with a joke about the region that makes the audience laugh. For him, if there are more visitors to the museum, the region must invest all the more โin what makes our international, national, and regional heritage valuable.โ
The merit of the Escoffier Foundation for Mr. Luca is “to be primarily a private foundation that asks very little of the public authorities (municipality, department).” He follows up by declaring, “Auguste Escoffier would have been delighted to finally be recognized for his House of the Illustrious.”
He ends with one last wish he hopes to see come true: “I would like us to finally have, when we arrive on the Cรดte d’Azur, the following sign: โVilleneuve-Loubet, birthplace of Auguste Escoffier.โ For the mayor, there are highway paths where you see lots of illustrations, and we, we escape โthatโ, we wonder โwhyโ since the whole world knows Auguste Escoffier, โfar less so the French.โ For Lionel Luca, it is not normal that this qualifier is not on the highway.
He would like the gentlemen of the DRAC to give him a โhelping hand.โ
He finally wishes a very nice evening to those who will stay and hopes to see the others again during the summer, at the gastronomic events.
