Nice Volley Ball can’t seem to catch a break. The Eagles have just suffered their 5th consecutive defeat in the Marmara SpikeLigue. It was a tight match that ended with a score of three sets to two in favor of Chaumont (15-25/ 19-25/ 25-18/ 25-19/ 17-15).
Nice is currently second last in the Marmara SpikeLigue standings. This match was crucial to regain the taste of victory and begin their climb up the rankings. The Eagles faced the Chaumont team in this sixth round of the regular season. A team with diametrically opposed objectives, as they can afford to dream of reaching the top of the championship. A match largely in favor of Chaumont, currently 3rd in the standings, with a record of four wins to just one small defeat. A 5th consecutive loss is not something Nice desires tonight in front of an audience they want to reward for their loyalty.
The NVB wasn’t far off
Nice had an excellent start to the match and surprised Chaumont. The first two sets were won quite easily by the team from Nice. Eric Montagnon‘s players only needed to win one more to conclude the game. But you should never count your chickens before they hatch. Chaumont began a comeback and evened the score at two sets all. The match ended in a tie-break, narrowly won by the team from Haute-Marne. Victor Almeida Cardoso (Chaumont) was named MVP of the match, delivering an exemplary performance tonight. รric Montagnon’s men must bounce back and demonstrate they can return to winning ways.
However, the task looks tough as Nice’s next match will be an away game against Tourcoing. A visit to the league’s leader, still undefeated this season, which promises to be a real challenge. Tune in this Sunday at 5 PM.
