Launch of the 2024 season of Nice’s accessible beaches

The Handiplage program is back in Nice! The Carras and Centenaire beaches are now ready to welcome people with disabilities.

During the summer, the Handiplage program is offered for free on two beaches on the Promenade des Anglais, Carras and Centenaire. This allows people with disabilities to enjoy the beach in complete tranquility.

These beaches offer anyone with a disability the opportunity to swim safely throughout the summer, 7 days a week, including public holidays. In previous years, the beach access time was 11 a.m.; this year, it opens at 10:45 a.m. The city of Nice is also implementing a smoke-free policy on all beaches to fight against cancer. Whether private or public, beaches in Nice are now smoke-free.

With quality equipment and infrastructure, the two beaches have a Handiplage “3 buoys” label, as well as a ramp leading to the sea. A rescue station, changing rooms, and specific showers are also available. Individuals with reduced mobility can access special areas with the “mobility inclusion” card.
