The Republic of Nissa and the Federal Occitan Republic will pay tribute to the women and men who participated in the Liberation of Nissa from Nazi occupation on August 28, 1944, 73 years ago.
We believe it is important to keep in our collective memory those who had the courage to take matters into their own hands, without waiting for the allied army.
32 of them lost their lives that day, and a little over 280 were injured. To these victims, we must add the allied bombings of 05/26/44, the hangings of Torin and Grassi on 07/07, the shootings at Ariane on 07/22 and 08/15, and so on.
The president of the Republic of Nissa, Cristòu Daurore, and the president of the Federal Occitan Republic, Ciril Joanin, invite everyone to observe a minute of silence in their honor this Monday, August 28, at noon.
