The Saint-Roch district is going to transform.

Latest News

The Saint-Roch district of Nice is the subject of a vast transformation plan. Mobility, heritage, security, and public services are at the heart of this project, the result of a consultation between the municipality and the residents.

The development plan for the Saint-Roch district was revealed yesterday. It aims to enhance heritage and meet the expectations of the residents. Through six main axes, the project aims to modernize the infrastructure while preserving the district’s identity.

The complete restoration of the Saint-Roch church symbolizes this intention. This historical monument, currently undergoing diagnostics, will be restored between 2025 and 2029, with particular attention paid to the frescoes and the dome.

Simultaneously, Saint-Roch square, a central place of life and exchange, will undergo revitalization. The market will feature new stands to attract a diverse clientele, and a green lung will be developed to offer a relaxation space.

Mobility, security, and services for a better quality of life

To improve mobility, an ecological parking lot with 510 spaces will be built on Rue Vauban. Equipped with photovoltaic panels and green spaces, this project will combine parking and sustainable development.

Security is also enhanced with the installation of a municipal police station on Saint-Roch square. This measure is accompanied by mechanisms to counter incivilities.

Finally, a Public Services House will open its doors in 2025. This central location will consolidate administrative services, meetings with elected officials, and local initiatives to simplify the residents’ procedures.

Future projects for a sustainable district

The Saint-Roch project is part of a long-term perspective. The reconversion of the Auvare barracks, planned for 2025, will be the subject of a broad consultation. This 41,000 mยฒ site could accommodate housing, public facilities, or sports infrastructures.

Moreover, a new nursing home with 100 rooms will be built to meet the needs of the elderly. This building, scheduled for 2028, will promote intergenerational exchanges and integration into the neighborhood.
