Despite progress, women still suffer from an image deficit in the business world. Starting a business is a challenge that more and more women are taking on.
Every year, 200,000 women embark on the adventure of starting a business. What are the challenges and difficulties of business creation when you are a woman?
French society lags behind some of its European neighbors in terms of gender equality. Wage inequalities, the “glass ceiling” preventing women from accessing high-responsibility positions, imbalance in the sharing of household tasks, childcare… Women face difficulties in advancing their professional lives.
When they want to start a business, they find themselves in a male-dominated world sometimes unwilling to trust them. Entrepreneurship can then be more difficult for a woman, who will have to fight against prejudices and perhaps assert herself more strongly than a man.
Good news, however: three years later, 66% of women who have started a business are still active, a figure comparable to that of men. So there is no reason not to get started!
As part of its gender equality action plan, the city of Nice, the CCAS, and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis have implemented numerous actions regarding internal human resources policy and local policies for citizens.
One of the areas of intervention is economic development for women.
To this end, a Hackathon will be organized on November 16 and 17 by the women’s collective W H A T and several others at Skema Business School on the theme of women’s entrepreneurship.
Ahead of this event, the round table “Women’s Entrepreneurship: Obstacles and Strengths” is organized this Saturday, November 4th, from 9:30 AM to 12 PM in the City Council Hall at Nice City Hall.
