Born in 1953, Jean René first worked as a primary school teacher before pursuing a career as a songwriter for children in the Francophone world, a career marked by a gold record and thousands of performances. In 2011, with his son Pierre, a novelist, he founded Bulles de savon, a children’s publishing house distributed by Flammarion. Renowned authors and illustrators contribute their talent to its catalog: Jean-Claude Carrière, Agnès de Lestrade, François Reynaert, Sylvie Serprix. He continues to write, mainly biographies: My dear Mozart, My dear Voltaire, Painters, who are you? Rebels, who are you?, while traveling across France for workshops and book-related events.
