The 19th edition of the Cinรฉma et Vidรฉo Encounters will take place from this Thursday to Saturday, December 2nd, at the iconic Mercury cinema hall and at BMVR Louis Nucรฉra.
For over ten years, the association Regard Indรฉpendant has been structuring its work to promote independent creation by using Super 8, out of taste and pleasure.
Thirteen collections, over a hundred and twenty films have been produced from this, created by about a hundred filmmakers.
The highlight of this 2017 edition will be the presentation, on Saturday at the Mercury cinema, of the collection of Super 8 short films on the theme “Frontiรจre” in the presence of their authors.
In parallel, the organizing team continues to explore the contemporary use of film with works by Daphnรฉ Hรฉrรฉtakis, Filippo Filliger, Emmanuel Desestrรฉ, and Ben Barton.
It will also be an opportunity to showcase the results of the brand-new black-and-white Super 8 development workshop.
The opening will feature the Cannes program from May 2017 by the English group Straight 8, a new film by Julien Doigny from Brussels, an incredible cult short film by Jean-Pierre Bouyxou from 1968, and finally to applaud an original performance by artist Emmanuelle Nรจgre.
A significant portion of these three days will be, as usual, dedicated to regional cinematic creation. The public will be able to discover a selection of films from schools and workshops as well as short films by directors from our region, including animation, fiction, documentary, and experimental works.
Many of them will be present to accompany their work and interact with the audience. There will be a spotlight on Girelle Production, an Orlรฉans-based production company, with the producer Christophe Camoirano, newly settled in Nice, presenting “Deux cancres” by Ludovic Vieuille.
Finally, on Friday, December 1st, BMVR Louis Nucรฉra will host the round table “Writing for Cinema, from Online Writing to Paper Writing, Stories of a Round Trip,” with a panel of writers, critics, and bloggers coming to talk about their writings and passion.
