4. The Seeds of the Wild Fig Tree – Mohammad Rasoulof
Iman, recently appointed as an examining judge at the revolutionary tribunal in Tehran, finds himself at the heart of the popular protests shaking the country. Facing an absurd and unjust system, he decides to conform to it. At home, his daughters Rezvan and Sana strongly support the movement, while his wife Najmeh tries to find a balance. 5. No Chains No Masters – Simon Moutaïrou
In 1759 on Isle de France (now Mauritius), Massamba and Mati, slaves on the plantation of Eugène Larcenet, endure fear and forced labor. Massamba dreams of freeing his daughter, while Mati wants to escape the plantation. After Mati’s escape, Madame La Victoire is hired to find her, prompting Massamba to become a fugitive and break away from the colonial order.
