A historical and musical storytelling concert will pay homage to the end of World War II. This outdoor show will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 8 p.m. at the foot of the Rauba Capeรน War Memorial.
On the eve of May 8, the municipality invites the public to a special concert. This Wednesday, May 7 at 8 p.m., the music section of the Municipal Guard will give a free performance at the War Memorial. This commemorative concert will combine historical narrative and music to mark the 80th anniversary of the 1945 Victory.
The performance will take the form of a story. The narrator will portray a fictional Nice resident, born at the beginning of the 20th century in the Port district. Through his memories, the audience will discover the city of Nice during his childhood, his studies at Massรฉna High School, and then his time at Saint-Cyr, where he crosses paths with Charles de Gaulle.
This character will witness the major events of the century. He will talk about Paris and London during the war, his significant encounters, and especially the liberation of the southeast of France.
The narration will be accompanied by the music of the Municipal Guard. Forty-five musicians will bring the story to life. Several pieces will illustrate the stages of this journey. Among them: Schindler’s List, performed by violinist Vรฉrร Novakova, jazz excerpts, poetry set to music, and Roger Boutry’s funeral march.
This moment of emotion will reach its peak during the tribute to the Nice resistance fighters who fell on August 28, 1944. The concert will conclude with The Marseillaise arranged by Hector Berlioz.
Admission is free. The city invites residents to come in large numbers to share this moment of remembrance. The setting of the War Memorial, overlooking the sea, will provide a sober backdrop for this evening of transmission and reflection.
