Minister Aurore Bergé on a trip to Nice

On Monday, July 7, 2025, Minister Aurore Bergé will visit Nice on the occasion of the Summer University of French Judaism. This visit carries strong symbolic significance, in a context marked by the resurgence of anti-Semitic acts since October 2023.

At the invitation of the President of the Consistory of France, Élie Korchia, the Minister of Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against Discrimination will travel to the Alpes-Maritimes this Monday evening. She will participate in the second edition of the Summer University of French Judaism in Nice.

The visit of Aurore Bergé takes place in an always tense context. Since the attacks of October 7, 2023, committed in Israel by Hamas, anti-Semitic acts have significantly increased in France. This rise in targeted violence concerns both institutions and citizens. In response, the minister intends to reaffirm the state’s position: “in the face of anti-Semitism, there can be no compromise or ambiguity.”

This visit is also a continuation of the Anti-Semitism Summit, which she restarted last February, and the recent adoption of a legislative text strengthening the fight against anti-Semitism in higher education.

An ongoing battle

In her previous speeches, Aurore Bergé had already highlighted the transformation of hate, its spread on social networks, in the streets, and even in schools. “Anti-Semitism is still here; it renews itself, it adapts, it mutates,” she declared in a speech last January.

But this fight does not end there. For the minister, it is also about linking this struggle to a broader commitment against all forms of discrimination: sexism, racism, homophobia. “These acts of violence do not only concern our families. […] They concern our schools, our universities, our businesses, all environments, and all sectors,” she further stated.

According to her, the Republic must remain firm on its principles: secularism, authority, and progress. She also advocates for an unapologetic feminism, affirming that “the economic emancipation of women is an essential condition of their autonomy.”

Aurore Bergé wants to bring this political message to the field, as close as possible to the territories. Her visit to Nice, in a setting of dialogue and education, also aims to convey a desire: to unite the active forces of the country to make a common front.

For the minister, “the Republic is a collective work” and everyone must play a role within it, whether elected officials, teachers, citizens, or members of an association. From this perspective, she called for shared vigilance: “Let us all be vigilant neighbors to put an end to violence against women and children.”

Aurore Bergé’s evening in Nice will align with this logic of active presence, assumed support, and Republican mobilization.
