More fear than harm! This Sunday evening, at Nice Côte d’Azur airport, a fatal accident was narrowly avoided. Two planes could have collided on the Nice tarmac. Indeed, an easyJet plane, on the ground, was preparing to take off for Nantes. As it was positioning at the beginning of the runway, a plane from the Nouvelair company passed just “three meters above” the plane on the ground.
The easyJet flight canceled
A huge fright for everyone! The passengers, as well as the pilots, of the EasyJet plane were greatly shaken by this very close encounter. Shocked by the event, the captain reportedly refused to take off for Nantes. According to some reports, the pilot emerged from the cockpit in tears. The flight was canceled and rescheduled for today in the early afternoon.
Actu Nice collected some statements from the Nice airport communication. “A Nouvel Air plane, upon landing, revved up to avoid” the collision with the easyJet one. “An investigation will be conducted to determine the causes. But it seems that the Nouvel Air pilot made a mistake,” according to the airport communication.
According to our information, the captain also believes that the error came from the plane and not the control tower. The weather and fog could partially explain this incident.
