Thursday, October 9, 2025, Mayor Christian Estrosi and his deputy Gaรซl Nofri visited the construction site of the future Tzarewitch park-and-ride. With 265 spaces (including 53 with electric charging stations), this facility aims to enhance intermodality around the BHNS Line 8+ and transform the urban development of the area.

The visit to the construction site of the Tzarewitch Boulevard park-and-ride took place in the presence of the architect and founder of the โ€˜Atelier du Port, Didier Roman (who left the firm a few months ago), representatives from Eiffage company, which is carrying out the work, and the municipal team. Christian Estrosi, alongside Gaรซl Nofri, was able to see the progress of the project firsthand.

According to the information presented, the car park will have 265 spaces, including 53 equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles. It will replace the former Avia gas station and will be accessible seven days a week as a park-and-ride for public transport users; in the evening and on weekends, a subscription-based parking will be mandatory for residents. The weekday rate is set at three euros, entitling users to a transfer on the Lignes dโ€™Azur.

Didier Roman highlighted the architectural and environmental choices: โ€œWe designed this building with special attention to its integration into the urban and natural landscape.โ€ He explained that the central structure would be made of wood, that 750 mยฒ of photovoltaic panels in a pergola would ensure an electricity production exceeding the project’s needs, and that a comprehensive sprinkler system would be integrated for fire safety, a novelty according to him for this category of car park, especially due to the risk posed by the many planned electric charging stations.

Christian Estrosi, for his part, discussed the overall parking policy in the area: โ€œwe have two other car parks currently under consideration (โ€ฆ) a car park at the level of Boulevard de la Mantegna, and a third car park above Place Goiran.โ€ He emphasized that the goal is to โ€œbeautify the neighborhood, calm it, make it more accessibleโ€ and to ease the traffic towards the center.

Recap of already known elements

The architecture studio “Atelier du Port” led by Didier Roman was selected for the project management. The estimated cost of the work was evaluated at 6.92 million euros.

Furthermore, the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis positions this park-and-ride as an essential link in the future BHNS Line 8+, which will connect Place Goiran to the Exhibition Palace. The stated objective is to promote the use of public transport and reduce car pressure in the neighborhoods in the hills and the center.

The Tzarewitch park-and-ride, whose delivery is scheduled for late 2025, is already distinguished by its environmental ambitions and its connection to the BHNS network. The next steps will focus on the finishing of the faรงades, landscaping, and actual commissioning.
