The Nice-born Diane Parry falls in the semifinals of the WTA 250 in Ostrava.

Latest News

The Niçoise Diane Parry was defeated today by Tamara Korpatsch in two sets at the WTA 250 circuit in Ostrava. Fiona Ferro, on her part, was defeated on Wednesday in three sets against Czech Nikola Bartunkova.

After defying all predictions yesterday in the quarterfinal against Czech Nikola Bartunkova, Diane Parry lost this Friday in two sets (6-4, 6-4) to German Tamara Korpatsch (124th in the world) on the WTA circuit in Ostrava. Yet, everything seemed to be going well for the Niçoise at the beginning of the tournament.

Initially facing Océane Dodin in the round of 32, the Azuréenne controlled the match by winning in two sets (6-1, 6-4). Then qualified for the round of 16, Diane Parry outclassed her Hungarian rival Panna Udvardy in two sets (6-1, 6-2). This new disappointment marks her sixth defeat in semifinals on a main circuit. The native of the Alpes-Maritimes had not reached the semifinals of a tournament on the main circuit since Osaka in October 2024.

The other Azuréenne in the competition

Fiona Ferro did not experience the same success as the Niçoise. Initially up against Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova in the round of 32, the Maralpian dominated her opponent by winning the match in two sets (6-1, 6-1). Unfortunately, in the round of 16, Fiona Ferro was defeated by Czech Nikola Bartunkova in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-1).

Tomorrow, the Ostrava final will see Briton Katie Boulter (120th WTA) face off against Tamara Korpatsch.
