“Hello”! For March 10th next, I invite you to venture into an isolated village, nestled in the heart of a peaceful Quebec countryside and “I promise you” that you will not be disappointed to spend “An Eternal Winter” in the company of Lynda Lemay.
Known for her acoustic ballads and pop rock titles, the “Brassens in the feminine” presents her first folk opera for which she signed the texts, music and direction. It features a repertoire of 51 songs.
Surrounded by other Quebec singers, Lynda Lemay invites us on a musical adventure where country, blues, rock and jazz blend together to offer us a thematic show with five characters.
- Manon (Manon Brunet), in her twenties, lives under the same roof as Jeff, her lover, and is carrying their first child.
- Micheline (Fabiola Toupin) is Manon’s mother.
- Nathalie (Lynda Lemay) is Jeff’s coquettish mother who has difficulty accepting becoming a grandmother at 41.
- Jeff (Yvan Pedneaux) is Nathalie’s son and Manon’s lover.
- Daniel Messier (Daniel Jean) plays a respected police officer and good friend of Micheline. He is secretly in love with Manon.
One might think that everything is going as well as possible between these characters but as in every family, tragic stories of love and hate, of promises and lies, of impossible dreams and disappointing realities, of poorly healed wounds and insufficient tenderness, come to color this musical drama where life and death rub shoulders too closely.
Through her philosophical tale, Lynda Lemay wanted to convey the message that “you must put words to unbearable silences”. “The invitation” cannot be taken lightly at the risk of suffering or causing suffering.
