DJ Cut Killer will be in Nice on Friday, July 10 for the No Diggity evening. The Théâtre de Verdure and the Kiosque à Musique will host an evening dedicated to R&B and hip-hop from the 1990s and 2000s. An opportunity to meet one of the figures who contributed to making hip-hop culture known in France.

The Théâtre de Verdure in Nice will host the No Diggity evening on Friday, July 10. From 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the audience will meet Cut Killer, a DJ whose name has been associated with the development of hip-hop in France since the early 1990s.

Born on May 6, 1971 in Chelles under the name Anouar Hajoui, Cut Killer discovered rap as a teenager, at the time when this culture was arriving from the United States. His first steps took place behind the turntables with scratching sessions on the Original MC album. Collaborations then multiplied with several French rap references, including MC Solaar and Akhenaton, a member of the IAM group.

Alongside the scene, Cut Killer established himself on the radio. After appearances on Radio 7 and then Radio Nova, the Cut Killer Show helped introduce numerous artists to the general public. The program became a regular meeting point for hip-hop enthusiasts.

Another important contribution, the artist popularized the concept of mixtapes in France, already very widespread in the United States. From 1994 onwards, the first productions found their audience and paved the way for a long series of albums and compilations. Over the years, Hip Hop Soul, Cut Killer Show, Party Jam and Ragga Killa Show accompanied the evolution of French rap.

A career between music, radio and cinema

Cut Killer’s career quickly went beyond the turntables. Film soundtracks enriched his discography, notably for La Squale, Neuilly sa mère !, Suprêmes and the series Le Remplaçant. Film appearances followed as well, with Taxi 5 and Validé.

The DJ’s fame also led him to host numerous events in France and abroad. The Cannes Film Festival is among the events in which the artist regularly participates. Tony Parker and Eva Longoria had also chosen Cut Killer to provide the musical atmosphere for their wedding.

An evening dedicated to R&B and hip-hop classics in Nice

In Nice, No Diggity will offer a musical journey through the 1990s and 2000s. Tracks by Biggie, Dr. Dre, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, IAM and Diam’s will set the rhythm for the evening.

The program also includes DJ sets, live performances, dancers, live painting, tattoo artists and a food court. The organizers sum up this edition around a single motto: “VIBER”.

Cut Killer’s visit to Nice is not a first. In July 2022, the DJ had already performed at the Théâtre de Verdure during an evening dedicated to urban music after the closing of the Nice Jazz Festival. The lineup combined old school and new school hip-hop and R&B as well as afrobeats. Rapper from Nice Le Môme was also on the bill, alongside other local artists.
