Just a few weeks before the start of Ligue 1, OM and OGC Nice have added an unexpected fixture to their summer preparation. The two clubs will face each other on Saturday, July 25 at 6 p.m. at the Robert-Louis-Dreyfus training center in Marseille.
No official announcement accompanied the scheduling of this match. However, the match appears on the Ligue 1 calendar. The behind-closed-doors organization is due to security requirements, in a context marked by rivalry between the two clubs.
The match also comes just days after OGC Nice announced legal proceedings against OM’s sporting director, Grégory Lorenzi. During the back-to-school press conference, Nice president Maurice Cohen confirmed this decision: “The club wants to be respected. We don’t get any favors.” He added: “He signed his contract and changed his mind. We decided to take him to court. We’ll have the first hearing in September.”
