OGC Nice: a third jersey to pay tribute to the 86 victims of July 14, 2016

Ten years after the attack on July 14, 2016 which claimed the lives of 86 people on the Promenade des Anglais, OGC Nice and Kappa unveiled on Wednesday the third jersey of the 2026-2027 season, entirely dedicated to the memory of the victims. 

Golden and adorned with 86 stars symbolizing the 86 victims, the Gym’s new jersey draws its color from light, “which has become over the past ten years one of the symbols of remembrance for the victims.” This light rises every year from the Promenade des Anglais during memorial ceremonies, and illuminates the stands of the Allianz Riviera in the 86th minute of each match. 

This golden color worn on the jersey also recalls that of stars. Arranged on the front of the jersey, they trace the silhouette of the Bay of Angels, anchoring the memory of the victims in the very landscape of the city. On the back, below the collar, the date of July 14, 2016 appears discreetly. 

A symbol now present on all jerseys

On the occasion of this tenth anniversary, OGC Nice chose to feature the memory of the victims on all its uniforms for the season. The Heart of the Victims now adorns the home and away jerseys. 

The third jersey takes the initiative further, being entirely dedicated to it. It will be worn for the first time this Saturday against Le Mans, on the occasion of the match dedicated to those who perished. 

A tribute destined to endure

On August 14, 2016, exactly one month after the tragedy, the Gym returned to the Allianz Riviera to face Stade Rennais. That evening a symbol was created, still present ten years later: the Heart of the Victims, bringing together the names of the 86 people who disappeared.

Since then, it has been displayed on the giant screens of the Allianz Riviera at every match, in the 86th minute precisely. At that same moment, the stands light up with phone flashes from the crowd. A tradition so strong that even opposing supporters who made the trip take part in it.
