Éric Ciotti made his political comeback this Saturday, September 5 in Levens. Before nearly 6,000 people, the Mayor of Nice officially announced his support for Marine Le Pen in the race for the 2027 presidential election.
Éric Ciotti chose Levens for his political comeback. The Mayor of Nice and president of the UDR brought together nearly 6,000 people this Saturday, September 5 at Grand Pré. The event allowed for a review of the first six months of his term in Nice, as well as to clarify the UDR’s national ambitions.
The Nice elected official especially officially announced his support for Marine Le Pen for the 2027 presidential election. Éric Ciotti declared that he “will support with loyalty, with determination, with commitment, Marine Le Pen’s candidacy for the presidential election.” The Mayor of Nice also proposed to the RN candidate to conclude “an alliance pact” to “lead her to victory.”
“France needs her victory, France needs a profound break, and an end to Macronism,” insisted Éric Ciotti before adding that “the UDR, all its deputies, all its elected officials, will take their part in this alliance.”
Éric Ciotti defends his record in Nice
The political comeback also served to present the first measures taken since Éric Ciotti took over the city. The Mayor of Nice notably highlighted 60 million euros in savings on the local budget as well as the reduction in property tax.
The reduction of public spending is also a key aspect of the project defended by the UDR. Éric Ciotti intends to carry this line at the national level as part of his alliance with Marine Le Pen.
Security and taxation also occupied an important place in the review presented in Levens. The municipality had already announced the continuation of the recruitment of 200 municipal staff.
This political comeback came after several decisions announced in Nice. Éric Ciotti had notably wished to establish a weekly flag raising ceremony accompanied by the Marseillaise in schools. A proposal to which the Minister of National Education Édouard Geffray had objected.
The free school supplies for Nice’s 22,000 students has also come to an end. This measure should allow the municipality to achieve over 440,000 euros in savings.
An alliance now official with Marine Le Pen for 2027
The turnout recorded in Levens marked this political comeback. In 2025, approximately 3,000 people had participated in the event during which Éric Ciotti had announced his candidacy for Nice’s municipal elections. This year, the Mayor of Nice largely turned his speech toward national elections. The alliance with Marine Le Pen should allow the UDR to participate in building a project for the 2027 presidential election.
Éric Ciotti nevertheless maintained certain disagreements with Marine Le Pen. On pensions, the Mayor of Nice notably defends the introduction of a dose of capitalization. A position that does not appear in the proposals put forward by his ally. The Nice elected official nonetheless insisted on the convergences between the two formations and on “the profound evolution of the RN.”
Several proposals were also put forward for this alliance. Éric Ciotti wishes to “build provinces” and “end the current regions,” run according to him by “the Museliers, Wauquiez, Bertrand and Pécresse.”
The Mayor of Nice also wants to “change the system” of pensions. Another priority concerns the “reform or even abolition for many of inheritance rights.” The “administrative simplification” of the State is also part of the proposals presented in Levens. On immigration, Éric Ciotti notably defended “a moratorium on the right of asylum, the repeal of family reunification, the abolition of birthright citizenship.”
Éric Ciotti’s political comeback in Levens therefore went beyond the local framework. After six months heading Nice, the UDR president has now clearly placed his action within the perspective of the 2027 presidential election.
