A 120 million euro recovery plan for sport.

Of the 100 billion euros announced to boost the country’s economy over a period of two and a half years, the sports sector will receive a package of 120 million euros.

In detail, 40 million euros will be dedicated to supporting employment in the sports sector, 50 million to sports facilities, and finally 30 million to a fund assisting amateur clubs and sports federations. This last measure adds to the 15 million already announced by the government last July.

According to Roxana Maracineanu, the government plans to increase this overall sum with a specific support measure for events, culture, and sports to compensate for the loss of ticket revenue due to spectator limitations.

The 120 million euros will be disbursed through the National Sports Agency. According to its director, Frédéric Sanaur, they will notably help develop remote sports practices through digital development, co-finance the renovation of 200 to 300 sports facilities over the next two years, and co-finance or partly pay for around 10,000 jobs in sports clubs and federations.
