Nice Premium went to meet the two candidates referred to as “right-wing” to gather their thoughts just a few hours before the first round of voting, with one hoping it will be the last, whereas the other sees it as preparation for the next Sundayโs second round.
Nice Premium: Brigitte Tanauji-Dahan, how do you feel a few hours before the first round?
Brigitte Tanauji-Dahan: I feel confident, I have received a lot of expressions of friendship and encouragement, especially at my meeting organized at “LโOdace” attended by 400 people. I felt that the groundwork over the last month and a half had paid off, the people of this district aspire to a real change and especially to the development of constructive projects in agreement with the city council. They also wish that all means are used to energize the district and to improve the quality of life.
NP: How did your campaign go?
BTD: The campaign went well, it was very difficult at the beginning because several people, especially from my own political family, thought that my candidacy was reckless. I was subjected to pressure, obstacles, and a few days ago, I was even suspended from the UMP with a letter that offered to keep me as a member in exchange for withdrawing my candidacy. The UMP, being so well organized, sent me another letter 24 hours later inviting me to renew my membership. Thanks to this campaign, I have also given hope to the disappointed people of Verola.
NP: Do you believe you will make it to the second round and why?
BTD: Yes, I believe it, I think I can benefit from my hard work and also from the fact that the population does not want to be manipulated by any party. Especially since the example at the national level does not encourage residents to follow the UMP candidates.
NP: What will you do on the upcoming Sunday?
BTD: I will visit the various polling stations in the 4th district and eagerly await the first results at 8 pm.
NP: Finally, what would you say to the women and men of your district in Nice?
BTD: I am eager to put my dynamism and energy at the service of the district. I know that I have enough strength and willpower to make a difference and to allow this district, which is the heart of the city of Nice, to be a neighborhood where it’s great to live together.
Nice Premium: Auguste Vรฉrola, how are you approaching this first round of the cantonal election?
Auguste Vรฉrola: Very serenely.
NP: Do you think a second round will be necessary to elect the general councilor of the 4th district?
AV: One can hope, even dream.
NP: How did your campaign go?
AV: Odious on the part of the Mayor and Madame Tanauji-Dahan but very pleasant with the inhabitants.
NP: Finally, what would you say to the women and men of your district in Nice?
AV: You are right to hope because I have a lot of confidence in you, and we will be able to move forward again.
