On this school return of September 1, 2025, the mayor of Nice and Laurent Le Mercier, inspector of the Nice academy, visited Rosalinde Rancher primary school.
This Monday, September 1, 2025, 28,528 schoolchildren from kindergarten and elementary school are starting their school year in Nice. In the context of returning to school and the loss of purchasing power, the municipality decided to supply 22,000 kits distributed to Nice schoolchildren. Inside the red synthetic fabric bag, there is a 20 cm ruler, three pens, two gray pencils, an eraser, a pencil sharpener… This aid is complemented by an educational credit of €42.36 for kindergarten and elementary students.
“This year and the following ones, the city is contributing to families for school supplies to ease their burden during this time of the year,” rejoices the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi.
New improvements for schools since the summer
Since this summer, the city has invested more than 3.5 million euros in schools during the summer of 2025. These 90 improvements are made in 69 schools in the city. The goal, according to the municipality, is to modernize and improve the quality of life in the school establishments.
Like five other institutions, the Rosalinde Rancher school was funded by the municipality to improve acoustics and reduce noise disturbances, for an amount of €190,700.
Culture and education for all children
With the Ministry of National Education, the municipality of Nice aims to strengthen access to culture for the youngest. Initiated in 2021, the program “Nice, 100% culture at school” implements a youth contest, a literature prize for Nice students, a reading program… The initiative affects the 149 public schools of the municipality, and 120 cultural actors will engage in the institutions this year.
In terms of education, the public administration of Nice welcomes more than 400 students in 32 specialized classes, designated as a localized unit for school inclusion (ULIS). At Thérèse Roméo school, rearrangements have been made to accommodate a kindergarten teaching unit (UEMA) and a ULIS class for this 2025 school year. A flexible floor, a small garden, and a new room for city staff are installed in the establishment.
