In order to meet this colossal challenge and bring fiber optics, step by step, closer to the residents, companies, and public entities of the Alpes-Maritimes, 3,800 km of linear infrastructure will need to be mobilized.
To promote the deployment of fiber optics in the Alpes-Maritimes, the agreement signed between SICTIAM and ERDF fully aligns with this objective.
It is also a step in the digital development strategy of the General Council.
All alternatives to civil engineering works will be considered to enable strong reuse of existing infrastructures (existing ducts, aerial supports, etc.). Its first application concerns the burial by ERDF of its electrical distribution network and SICTIAM’s optical networks over 6.5 km in the Val d’Entraunes.
Thanks especially to its projects for burying the electricity network, ERDF is closely aligning itself with the projects of the territories, including that of the digital connectivity of the mountainous areas of the Alpes-Maritimes.
Let us recall that the strategy for deploying the Very High-Speed Internet in the Alpes-Maritimes was defined by the General Council in its master plan in June 2013. Its implementation has entered the pre-operational phase, with the completion of engineering studies conducted by SICTIAM in consultation with the Department, municipalities, and operators.
