This Saturday, May 18th at 8:00 PM, in the Cathedral of Sainte Réparate, violinist Léonard Schreiberg will give a charity concert for the Association of Friends of Lacassagne.
He will be accompanied by the Azuréen Symphony Orchestra.
A Belgian violinist born in Antwerp in 1984, Léonard SCHREIBER gave his first concert at six years old with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders. He won the Hermann Krebbers international violin competition in 1995 in Maastricht, Netherlands, which gave him the opportunity to perform various concertos for violin and orchestra, and to work under the direction of Belgian conductor Dirk BROSS.
After winning a scholarship at the age of 14 from the Purcell School of Music in London, he entered the Royal College of Music at 16 where he received education from Félix ANDRIEVSK. Guided by his professor Léonid KERBEL, he embarked on a professional career.
A talented concert violinist, he was recognized in 2009 by Classica magazine and Radio France as “Artist of the Year”. He then performed with numerous philharmonic orchestras, from London to Saint Petersburg, from Santiago to Jerusalem, from Paris to Shanghai… With the same enthusiasm, he dedicates himself to chamber music and collaborates with the Chausson Trio, succeeding Philippe TALEC.
A curious musician, he temporarily partnered with Jan Van MOL, the organist of the Saint-Paul Church in Antwerp, with whom he performed works by Johann Sebastian BACH and Eugène YSAŸE. Léonard SCHREIBER plays tonight on a very rare instrument born in Ferrara in 1710 under the hands of luthier Alessandro MEZZADRI, made available to him by the OPEL Foundation.
On the program:
Johannes BRAHMS (1833-1897),
Violin Concerto in D major, Opus 77
