A Chinese New Year show for schoolchildren and seniors in Nice!

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of China’s recognition by General De Gaulle on January 27, 1964, the city of Nice hosted a troupe of about 80 young Chinese artists from six provinces of China on Monday, who performed on the stage of the Nice Opera House.


As the lunar new year approached, celebrated this year on February 5th, these young Chinese talents, from the prestigious National Association of Dancers of China, presented a show yesterday to several hundred students and seniors from Nice.

“It’s a pleasure to see these young ones interested in Chinese culture, so distant for them,” said the Chinese Consul General based in Marseille, who was present on the occasion. “Hoping that you will further understand China and its varied culture (…) many projects are carried out each year between our two countries, such as the Nice Carnival exported for the occasion, which met with immense success. I am confident that during the year 2019, the Year of the Pig, we will be able to better work and better exploit our cooperation,” explained Huiying Lu, Consul of China.

Through collaborations established notably with Hangzhou, Xiamen, Zhuhai, and Ningbo, Nice and its Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis have showcases to ensure their cultural, tourist, and economic promotions in the largest global market.

On this occasion, the youth of Nice also took to the stage at the Opera House. On the program: dance, a choir, and a percussionist illustrating the dynamic exchanges between France and China. A book of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, in braille, was given to the delegation for the occasion. The show met with great success, judging by the waves of applause!
