The Information Office of the European Parliament for the Southeast is organizing the Citizen Forum on the theme of the “2012 European Year for Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity,” which will take place on Friday, September 21, 2012, in Nice, at the Mediterranean University Center (CUM).
Since 2007, the European Parliament has been organizing citizen forums throughout the European Union.
The objective is to listen to what citizens have to say about the Europe they want, wish for, criticize, or do not desire.
This citizen forum will address legislative topics affecting quality of life (transport and mobility, health, travel, lifelong learning, etc.).
Speakers will include: Mr. Gaston FRANCO, Member of the European Parliament, Ms. Michèle RIVASI, Member of the European Parliament, Mr. Jean-Michel GALY, Deputy Mayor for Senior Citizenship, Ms. Muriel BOULMIER, General Director of Ciliopée and Chair of the working group “Demographic Changes and Aging” of the European Federation for Social Housing, on “Adapting Housing for Elderly People,” Mr. Jérôme VANDAMME, Chief of Staff at the Business Union of the Alpes Maritimes, on “Active Aging through Sports,” Dr. Jean-Denis BERNARD, President of the GIP Cannes Bel Age.
Moderator: Ms. Maria Grazia CAVENAGHI-SMITH, Head of the Information Office of the European Parliament for the Southeast.
The panel participants will engage with citizens, representatives of sector associations, lifelong learning centers, as well as universities and Europe Direct.
