Christian Estrosi and Auguste Vรฉrola will welcome, this evening at the Nice Opera, nearly 800 young people aged 18 for the citizenship ceremony and the distribution of voter cards.


opera_nice-6.jpg Like every year, this citizenship ceremony, as provided by the electoral code, allows young people aged 18, newly registered on the electoral lists of the city of Nice, to receive their voter card along with the citizen booklet outlining the main rights and duties of a citizen.

Some candidates wonder why this ceremony was not organized earlier, outside the period known as “duty of reserve,” when one is a candidate for an elective function (as Christian Estrosi and Auguste Vรฉrola are). It is easy to imagine that opponents are just waiting for this to voice their criticisms and revive controversies…

It is Robert Injey who stirs the pot: “Behind a protocol function, Christian Estrosi is simply doing propaganda by establishing an exclusive relationship with a population that is poorly informed about political life and easy to influence. Moreover, he is utilizing political structures. There are all the elements here for a potential challenge.”

Honestly, we remain skeptical. In his electoral propaganda speeches, Christian Estrosi does not miss the opportunity to highlight the ethical values which he believes, after the scrupulous respect of rules, involve having an irreproachable behavior.
