The 24th edition of the Nice Book Festival, themed around cinema to celebrate the centenary of the Victorine Studios, will pay tribute to the musician, composer, jazz pianist, singer, and arranger Michel Legrand, who through his talent, has definitively linked music and cinema.

The Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Frédéric Deloche, will offer an exceptional concert this Saturday at 6 PM at the Nice Côte d’Azur Opera.

Although it represents just one aspect of his immense talent, Michel Legrand is a major composer for cinema and was awarded three Oscars. Notably, in 1963, he wrote the melodies for the film La Baie des Anges by Jacques Demy.

The presence of actress and novelist Macha Méril-Legrand, who came to Nice to present her book Michel et moi (Albin Michel), adds a special significance to this concert.

Michel Legrand passed away on January 26th of the previous year. He married Macha Méril-Legrand in 2014, a love story lived from afar until then, as both had fallen in love at first sight back in 1964.
