The Nice Métropole Pétanque grounds were almost a bit small for this beautiful day and the competition dedicated to the association ALL WITH HUGO, for which €1,200 was collected during the afternoon.
And there was indeed a lot of distinguished guests in the Cimiez grounds, including sports champions Khaled Lakhal and Denis Saioni, chefs like Daniel Silvetti (Lu Fran Calin) and Luc Salsedo (Socca Chips), Parisian “stars” such as journalist Christophe Kulikowski and comedian Laurent Barat… In short, plenty of fun and good food were had all day long around a competition with matches that were as friendly as they were instructive. Indeed, the Nice Métropole Pétanque mixed the teams so that the “pros” could impart their knowledge to the novices.
And the magic worked from the very beginning of the first matches where bursts of laughter and gentle teasing marked the throws and rebounds, intentional… or otherwise. Laurent Barat entertained the players with hilarious sports commentary while the little ones also had their mini-competition under the guidance of volunteers from the two associations.
After an afternoon as indulgent as it was festive and sporty, it was time for the awards following a raffle filled with superb prizes. The awards were ultimately incidental as the essence of the day lay elsewhere, certainly promising many more such days to come.
And it is a check for €1,200 that will finally be presented to the association by the President of Nice Métropole Pétanque, Guy Tognetti, in the presence of officials José Cobos, Olivier Guérin, Olivier Robaut, and Philippe Rossini. Also noteworthy was the presence of the CD06 president, Bernard Consonnove, and many presidents from the Nice clubs.
