On Thursday, February 2, at 8:30 PM, the Le Mercury cinema will screen โA Dangerous Methodโ by David Cronenberg. A story inspired by the life of Freud. The feature film will be followed by a debate on the theme of psychoanalysis.
From the story of Sigmund Freud, everything has been said, or almost. David Cronenberg, the director of โThe Flyโ and โEastern Promises,โ revisits one aspect of the life of the spiritual father of psychoanalysis. His latest film, โA Dangerous Method,โ will be screened on Thursday, February 2, at 8:30 PM, at the Le Mercury cinema.
Sabina Spielrein is a young woman suffering from hysteria. She is treated by the psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung, with whom she quickly becomes romantically involved. This relationship becomes highly complicated when Sabina comes into contact with another psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. The two doctors and the young woman then form a true triangular relationship in the antechamber of psychoanalysis. This film was nominated for the Golden Lion at the 68th Venice Film Festival.
The screening will be followed by a debate led by Pascal Gaymard, Cinema Mission Officer at the General Council of Alpes Maritimes, and Fabien Berrais, Psychotherapist and President of the Collectif des Psychothรฉrapeutes Certifiรฉs, on the theme: โReinventing Oneself Through Depth Psychology.โ
