The Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur is recognized worldwide as a territory enjoying an exceptional quality of life. This landscape, both natural and urban, must naturally be accompanied by a pleasant sound landscape, to preserve the quality of life for citizens.
The Metropolis has therefore undertaken a study across the entire territory to establish a noise map and a noise prevention plan in the environment, allowing for the preservation of quiet areas and the identification of the most noise-exposed areas, with the aim of improving them.
Therefore, the Center for Information and Documentation on Noise (CIDB) has chosen to present the example of the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur by organizing this Friday, December 14 at the CUM (Mediterranean University Center), in partnership with the Association of Territorial Engineers of France and Colas, a day dedicated to the prevention of road noise.
Road traffic is the main cause of noise pollution experienced by city dwellers. Aware of the resulting health issues, the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur is committed to improving the sound environment for its residents.
The installation of 65,000 m2 of acoustic asphalt on the Promenade des Anglais is a particularly convincing example, reducing the overall noise of urban traffic by several decibels, equivalent to a 20% to 40% reduction in traffic.
On this occasion, participants will be invited to discover this project as well as other sites in the Metropolis benefiting from appropriate acoustic treatments. A more general presentation of the actions implemented by the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur to improve the urban sound environment will be offered.
