Nice, Palais Nikaïa, May 9th… Hundreds of people were waiting in front of the palace doors. At the entrance, one could read “Junior Journalist Day” organized by CLEMI (Centre de Liaison de l’Enseignement et des Médias d’Information). The aim of this event is to introduce middle and high school students to various media platforms. Among them, a group of about ten middle school students were invited to the Palace to edit the front page of this newspaper. This group is us, students from the journalism club at les Chênes middle school in Fréjus.
We infiltrated the world of journalism to share it with you. To help us, we met with the editor-in-chief of this newspaper, Frank Viano. His watchword: curiosity.
This is how we ended up listening to a radio journalist, Mr. Arnaud BIHEL, who explained what his job involved.
We decided to get to know him better by interviewing him:
Les Chênes Middle School: Hello, we’d like to know how long you have been working in the world of journalism?
Arnaud Bihel: It has been about five years, but I have been working at Europe 2 for three years.
C. les Ch.: Why did you choose to work in radio?
A. Bihel: It’s a passion, the discovery of the microphone and knowing that you are speaking to millions of people. It’s magical.
Around 12:00 noon, lunch break. Activities were to resume at 1:30 PM. In the meantime, we were treated to a small music concert.
Later, we attended a conference on freedom of the press and the law led by Brigitte Tanauji-Dahan, a lawyer and deputy mayor of the city of Nice. We discovered that the print media embodies political pluralism, promotes independence, and provides more details on events, unlike some media (Internet…) which tend to offer just the essentials in the form of briefs, for example.
This day thus helped us become aware of the passion and curiosity that guide a journalist, whether amateur or professional, at every moment.
